Is Your Roof Leaking Now?
Contain the leak - If you have visible water drips coming through the roof in the loft, or through a ceiling, try to place a container or bucket to catch the water. Stopping the water spreading is the most effective way of reducing the damage caused.
Control the damp - Keep the area well ventilated and consider using a dehumidifier to help it dry. Clean mould as it appears to help stop the spread. Remember that mould spores can be a health hazard so wear rubber gloves and a face mask.
Clear the area - Try to move personal belongings away from the area of a leak. Do not touch or use electrical equipment that is wet. If you cannot move your belongings, consider covering them in plastic sheeting.
Stay safe - DO NOT attempt to repair the leak yourself. Climbing onto a roof is extremely dangerous. Our teams are highly trained and skilled at working at heights and will take all appropriate measures to ensure the work is carried out safely.
Get it fixed - A leaking roof does not get better with time. Even a small leak will cause significant damage if left unattended. If you have any concerns about your roof leaking call us on 01452 526680 for a professional repair.
The Warning Signs Of A Roof That Needs Repair
Preventing problems with your roof is always better than waiting for an emergency to occur. We recomend property owners regularly inspect their roofs for signs of damage and / or wear, but what should you look out for?
THINK SAFETY FIRST DO NOT attempt to climb onto any roof or to view the roof from a ladder. Being at any height above ground level without professional training and safety equipment is extremely dangerous. Property Owners should inspect their roof from the ground, from an overlooking window or using binoculars / cameras.
